INFORMATIONS:
Born in Agrigento (Italy), on the 28th of July, 1958.
From 1992: Professor of Criminal Law and Comparative Criminal Law at the
University Palermo (from 2000 full professor).
Scientific Activity:
Over 80 scientific publications (8 books) in Italian, English (n.7), German
(n.6), Spanish (n.5), Portuguese (n.1) and Korean (n.1) about various
items of General part (Negligence, Recklessness, Causality, Excuses, Sentencing)
and Special part (Protection of life and propriety) of Criminal Law, always
with special attention to the comparative approach. Research stays at
international research centres for a total of four years (Max-Planck-Institut
für ausl. u. int. Strafrecht) and management of international research
projects (European Joint Project to Counter Organized Crime"). Attendance
as lecturer to national (n.30) and international (n.26) conventions and
meetings. He held several conferences at University of Göttingen
(RFT), Barcelona (SP), Buaru and Aracatuba (Brasil), Bologna, Siena, Macerata,
Trento, Pisa.

· 2003 -- : Scientific Adviser of the "G.Falcone Foundation",
Palermo.
· 2002 -- : Editorial staff permanent member of the "Goltdammer's
Arkiv für Strafrecht" (the oldest criminal law German review).
· 2001--2003: Member of the Committee for the Reform of the Italian
Criminal Code, appointed from the Ministry of the Justice, Rome.
· 2001- 2002: Scientific Adviser of the International Scientific
and Professional Advisor Council of the United Nations Crime Prevention
and Criminal Justice, Milan):
· 2000-2001: Scientific Consultant of Italian Government for the
U.N. Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
· 1998-2001: Project Manager of the "European Joint Project
to Counter Organized Crime", conducted by the City of Palermo, the

the European Commission.
